The collection, recently released by the Arabic publishing house Dar Al-Takwin, debuted at the Sharjah International Book Fair, making waves as a monumental global literary effort that encapsulates the diverse voices of poets worldwide.

“Manseerah”: A Human Biography Through Poetry

“Manseerah” combines the English word “Man,” representing humanity, with the Arabic term for “biography,” reflecting a universal journey of human experience. This poetic epic delves into the complexities of the human spirit, capturing the emotions, struggles, hopes, and dreams of modern individuals as they navigate the challenges of the 21st century. It offers a unique, multicultural expression of humanity, joining poetry with narrative forms that transcend language and geographic barriers.

In describing the collection, “Manseerah” contributor Lavender stated:

“This epic brings together diverse poetic forms — poems, stories, fragments, symbolic and direct revelations — creating an innovative, global tapestry of poetic expression. It celebrates language’s infinite ability to articulate experiences that are unique yet profoundly interconnected.”

A Global Gathering of Voices and Visuals

The project features contributions from notable poets such as Paolo Ruffilli (Italy), Chrys Salt (UK), Shurouk Hammod (Syria), Keamogetsi Joseph Molapong (Namibia), and Jane Hirshfield (USA), alongside poets from a wide range of countries including Japan, South Korea, Argentina, and Cuba. Additionally, “Manseerah” includes black-and-white artwork from 17 visual artists worldwide, including Vittoria Chierici (Italy), Mayasa Al Sowaidi (Bahrain), and Sami Mohammad (Kuwait). These artworks complement the poetry, providing a visual exploration of the themes within each chapter.
