Nagla Ali Hassan: Let Me Pour You Coffee

In celebration of

International Coffee Day

On October 1st.

Let Me Pour You Coffee

Let me: pour you coffee But,

as I wish and desire!

Do you like it black?

Its darkness from my Arab kohl! Do you like it hot?

Its heat from the embers of my longing.

Do you like it with cardamom?

I am the queen of spices

I am the Arab lady, my lord,

I serve you my magic coffee

You sip it drop by drop And it melts you bit by bit

We, Arab women, Enchant our coffee with the spell of love

You drink my coffee,

you get drunk without wine

You and coffee are companions, And I and my Arab magic are companions!

I pour it into your coffee

And whisper that you love only me!

You sail the seas of the world, And drink all kinds of coffee

And return captivated by my coffee!

And sit wishing for my love and longing

And you tempt me with your love poems,

Hoping I will be kind to you - with a cup of coffee!

My coffee is bitter, like the bitterness of your abandonment.

My coffee is hot, like the embers of longing and love!

My coffee is scented with jasmine, because you planted it in my hair.

I pour cardamom with jasmine into your coffee

And you are captivated by this spiced with my tears

And you love drinking it from my cup To feel the trace of my lips! My, and get drunk!

Be my cup, my lord, and let me be your coffee!

Sip me drop by drop To melt you bit by bit.

I dance inside your cup, and you sip me kiss by kiss

Spiced with cardamom and longing

I resist abandonment

So sit captivated in front of my tent

And beg for my coffee For I and coffee are twins

It intoxicates you, I intoxicate you,

In the end,

You are drunk with my passion , or with my coffee.

This is a big initiative taken in right time when the world needs to be protected from war and , poverty and poor air quality. We must work together to create a peaceful and healthy environment for our next generations. It is our responsibility to hand over a beautiful world to our offsprings as we got from our ancestors. I strongly believe that poets can bring changes in the society. An ocean is made by drops, so each drop is important. United we will stand divided we will fall.

My heartiest congratulations to all possible participants.

Yours sincerely
